Thanks for dropping by. My guess is you want to learn a bit more about me:
I’m a New Yorker. It’s my favorite place in the world.
I’m married to the lovely and amazing Shayna Kulik.
I’m currently a partner with Downtown Music where we operate a range of music related businesses. As President of Downtown Music Publishing and Co-Founder of Songtrust, I focus primarily on leading our rights management and licensing initiatives. Prior to joining Downtown in 2007, I spent six years with Spirit Music Group where I was Head of A&R and previously held positions with RCA and Virgin Records.
In 2005, I was named one of Billboard Magazine’s “30 Under 30″ Faces to Watch and in 2011 I was named one of Crain’s “Forty Under 40″ Rising Stars of New York Business. But neither accolade really holds a candle to winning the 6th grade Geography Bee.
I travel a lot and have developed a bit of an obsession with maps–especially maps as art. One of my favorites can be found at Bohemian, a restaurant in New York’s Noho District, where Tokyo is at the center of the earth.
I occasionally blog about life, music and the future over here. I blog a bit more about Africa here.
If you want to reach out, please feel free. I’m really easy to get in touch with (me [at] justinkalifowitz.com) and am generally happy to meet for a coffee.
